The Code of Ethics expresses the common values of the community sector, and to serve as a common foundation. When confronted with an ethical dilemma, the Code of Ethics can be used to assist employees in identifying the issues at hand and the areas of tension. Expanding on the more commonly known ethical principles (i.e., autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice), additional principles have been incorporated to reflect the unique considerations of the community sector.
Furthermore, the Code is written in layman’s terms to facilitate its interpretation.
